Bible and Candle

Once there was nothing in this world.

No fish.

No stars in the sky.

No seas and pretty flowers.

All was empty and dark.

But there was God.

God had a wonderful plan. He thought of a lovely world, and while He thought, He made it. He made it all out of nothing. When God made anything, He just said, “Let it be made,” and there it was!

He made light. He made the rivers and seas, the grass-covered earth, the animals, birds, and trees.

Last of all, He made a man, and then He made a wife for the man. Their names were Adam and Eve.

God loved them very dearly. Every evening He visited them in the lovely garden they lived in.

The whole garden was theirs to enjoy, except for one tree, which was God’s forbidden tree.

Adam and Eve were happy until one day Satan, the enemy of God, tempted them. They decided to taste the fruit of God’s forbidden tree. They sinned. For the first time they were ashamed and sad.

No longer could they talk to God. Now they would have pain and trouble. And they would have to die. How sorry they were!

God promised to help them. When the right time would come, He would send his Son Jesus into the world. Jesus would come down from heaven and make a way for sin to be forgiven. To do this He would suffer and die for mankind. How glad they were that God would send a Savior!

Adam and Eve had children and grandchildren. By and by there were many people living in the world.

God wanted everyone to be happy. He told them what to do. Here is a list of rules God gave them (Exodus 20:3-17):

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
5. Honour thy father and thy mother.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

These were written in the Bible so we can read them, too. If we obey them, we will be happy.

Satan does not want us to obey them. Sometimes he tells us to steal something when no one is looking. But God knows it. God sees everything.

Sometimes Satan tempts us to tell a lie and makes us think no one will find it out. God knows it. He hears everything.

When we do these things, we feel bad inside. God loves us and wants to help us to be good. That’s why He sent Jesus into the world. God remembered his promise. After many years, Jesus was born as a little baby. He grew up and became a man.

He did many wonderful things. He healed the sick. He made the blind to see. He blessed the children.

Jesus never did anything wrong. He told the people about God and how to obey Him.

After a while the enemies of Jesus nailed Him to a cross. He died.

He suffered and died for the sins of all the people, even those who nailed Him to the cross.

Jesus was buried. But then a wonderful thing happened. He did not stay in the grave. He arose from the dead!

Soon God took Him back to heaven in a cloud. While his friends were watching Him leave, an angel told them Jesus would come back again.

Jesus died for our sins, too. He wants us to be sorry and confess our sins. He is ready to forgive us.

We can pray to God anytime. He hears every word and knows every thought. He makes us feel happy inside when our sins are forgiven. Then we want to do what is right. Then we want to be kind.

We may choose to disobey God and follow Satan. But God’s word says that if we reject Him in this life, He will cast us down to hell. Hell is a place of fire that burns forever.

But if we love and obey Jesus, He will take us up to heaven when He returns. Heaven is the beautiful home of God and his Son Jesus. It is a home of love and light. There we will always be happy.

What about Drugs, Alcohol, and Immorality?

Alcohol, Drugs, Lust, Crime, Prison, Despair, Death

For the wages of sin is death. (Romans 6:23)

Let us face the facts. The awful monsters—drugs, alcohol, and immorality—are threatening and destroying that which God created noble and good. Like the tentacles of a mighty octopus, they grasp and draw both young and old into their embrace.

An epidemic of huge proportions is among today’s society. The curse of drugs, alcohol, and immorality has left many people adrift without an anchor, headed for eternal destruction. People are readily influenced by their peers as well as by the media, magazines, newspapers, and television advertisements regarding these vices. The mind is assailed to the point where it is in a whirlpool of confusion and frustration, resulting in spiritual and physical deterioration.

Who should bear the blame for such disgraceful moral behavior? The younger generation? Not necessarily. By their own ungodly living, many parents have sanctioned the sins in which the younger generation indulges. Fathers and mothers are unaware that they are introducing their children to a drunkard’s and drug addict’s doom by failing to check their corrupt impulses. God’s moral principles have been carelessly disregarded. A mighty cry should ascend to Heaven. How can we save ourselves and our children?

Our society cannot produce the quality of citizens that are needed when drinking and drug use are tolerated and encouraged through the laxity of parents, teachers, and professors. The use of alcohol is a great corrupter of public morals—destroying judgment, character, and life. It contributes to the wrecking and dividing of the home, one of God’s holy institutions for the blessing of mankind.

Added to the menace of alcohol is the increasing use of illicit drugs. The bad effects of these drugs far outweigh any so-called benefits. The use of drugs can cause poor judgment and mental derangement. Drug users admit it is a death trap—mentally, physically and spiritually. Irreparable brain damage, murder, and suicide are often the tragic consequences of these indulgences.

People, because of their inherent sin, readily follow the tendencies and passions that Satan has designed. In this state, the flesh seeks unrestricted fulfillment. Sexual immorality does not quench the fire of lust—it fuels it. Illicit sexual activity is no more a cure for lust than whiskey is a treatment for alcoholism. The truth is that we need to deal with our lust. The soul—that part that lives on in eternity—when reaching out for God’s salvation, seeks to respect his laws.

Fornication, adultery, homosexuality, and sexual contact with animals are forbidden by the Word of God (Leviticus 18:23; Galatians 5:19-21). Immorality brings pain, heartbreak, wretchedness, guilt, and sexually transmitted diseases. Purity brings a sense of self-worth and dignity. It is a gross distortion to envision the highly principled individual as living in misery while the person of low morals has a life of bliss and fulfillment.

Amid this morass of immorality and spiritual blindness, of sin and shameless ungodliness, the Holy Bible sets the standard for moral behavior. It is the unquestionable and eternal authority on the matter of right and wrong.

God created man with the sex urge for the propagation of the human race and the enhancement of the marriage bond between husband and wife. He sanctions fulfillment of this desire only within rightful marriage. “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge” (Hebrews 13:4).

In the book of Romans, the apostle Paul writes of God’s judgment on homosexuality. “For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient” (Romans 1:26-28). This was the abominable sin of Sodom and Gomorrah, and it brought God’s judgment upon them (Genesis 19). According to the Scriptures, it is impossible to retain the Holy Spirit in our hearts and live a Christian life if we live and practice these sins.

If you want to be really happy in life and be at peace with yourself and God, you must come into fellowship with Him. Recognize and confess that you are a sinner and believe that Jesus died on the cross bearing your guilt. Victory is awaiting you!

As you open your heart to God and confess your sins, He will forgive you. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Willingly commit your whole life to Jesus, your Savior, and follow in true obedience to his Word and Holy Spirit. The blessings of the changed life are pure thoughts, which bring about a wonderful change in our actions and activities. Christ will give you courage to face the problems of life and strength to overcome the temptations that may assail you. Come to Jesus now while He is calling. “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).

The One And Only True God-Do You Know Him?

Everyone worships something. Some people worship objects, some worship a man, some worship an image, and others worship themselves. They reveal their devotion to their god in various ways. As the multitudes of people give their devotion to these gods, there still remains a longing and cry in their hearts. These people are able to find only a temporary relief for the cry of their souls and have little courage to face tomorrow. To their disappointment, the future is always the same as the past. The god they are serving is unable to fill the void in their lives.

Whom do you worship? Where does your god live? Is he alive? What did he do for you today? Did you talk with him today? Did he answer the cry of your heart? What do you believe?

Let me introduce you to the one true God who has conquered Satan, our greatest enemy. He is the God of creation, who spoke everything into existence. The Holy Bible will tell you of this God of heaven, who created man from the dust of the earth. Read Genesis chapters one and two.

He is the eternal God. He has no beginning and no end. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the creator, preserver, and sustainer of all things (Acts 17:22-34).

This great God who dwells in the heavens is also interested in you as a person. He sees you among the masses of people. He loves and cares for you. He wants to be more than your friend. He has sent his Son to be your Savior. He wants to live with you, and even more than that, He wants to live within you. He says, “Abide in me, and I in you” (John 15:4).

If He does not dwell in your heart, who does? By looking about us, we can see that Satan is ruling and ruining the lives of the masses of people. He is the one who rules these hearts. He suggests all these evils such as lying, stealing, lusting, cheating, seeking revenge, and self-promotion. If Satan lives in your heart and entices you to indulge in any of these sins and more, why not come to the God of gods who has given his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die for your sins and the sins of the whole world (John 3:16)?

You ask, “How can this be true? How can one, who is so great, all powerful, and almighty dwell in my heart?” (Isaiah 57:15).

If you are sick and tired of sin, why not call upon God and repent? Through faith in God and by the atoning blood of Christ, your sins will be forgiven and you will receive a new nature. Then when Satan comes to tempt, you will feel the presence of the almighty God. He will give you direction and teach you in all things (John 14:26).

In John 10:10, Jesus promises an abundant life and He is able to give it to you. This gift will be yours as long as you remain faithful and obedient to Him. “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land” (Isaiah 1:19). No other god is this great. If this speaks to your heart, you may want to read the tract: Ye Must Be Born Again. This tract, as well as others, can be found on our website or ordered from the address below.
